Digital convergence or technological convergence refers to “the technological merger of several industries through various devices that exchange information in the electronic, or digital, format used by computers. The industries are computers, communications, consumer electronics, entertainment, and mass media.” (McGraw-Hill Higher Education.)
As Internet search matures, it will start taking other forms as well. So far, Internet searching has only been available on computers and on a few other pieces of electronic equipment, such as WebTV. The integration with other electronic equipment has already started and will continue in the future. Wireless communication tools in particular play a large role in the future of search. Wireless devices, such as cellular phones, PDA devices, navigation systems and other wireless equipment will be employed especially for local searches. Other electronic equipment such as television sets will also integrate with Internet search.
